Natural Family Planning Awareness Week July 24-30, 2022

This week is Natural Family Planning (NFP) Awareness week. Couples who adopt NFP to space the births of children find that it brings about many positive changes in their relationship and it’s 100% natural—no hormones, drugs or devices.  Learn more about NFP on this page or go to the USCCB website.

Natural Family Planning (NFP) respects the body

Natural family planning (NFP) methods which track a woman's signs of fertility in order to help a married couple better understand fertility. These methods enable couples to plan intercourse in order to achieve or avoid pregnancy.  The beneifts of NFP include the following:

  • Natural; uses no drugs chemicals or devices

  • 97-99% effective used correctly safe, natural and effective using no drugs, chemicals or devices

  • Increases knowledge of and respect for fertility

  • Fosters communication between spouses

There are many NFP resources and methods out there. Here in the Archdiocese of Seattle, we have teachers for three of the most popular methods: the Sympto-Thermal method (STM), Creighton Model Fertility Care System and Billings Ovulation Method.

Ready to try Natural Family Planning? Finding an instructor is an important part of your NFP journey. One method might work better for you than another, so we are pleased to have instructors for a variety of NFP methods. Many of our instructors offer remote instruction or focus their practice in a specific area of fertility. Reach out and get a conversation started!
