Young Adult Half Marathon

“They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.” ~ John 20: 4

Join Frassati Young Adults and UW Newman for a breathtakingly beautiful half marathon on March 12th. If you already jog on occasion and can run around 6-7 miles at a slow comfortable pace, then there is enough time for you to get in shape and train for this truly spectacular half-marathon just an hour and a half north of Seattle. Fr. Chrysostom (and possibly Fr. Thomas Aquinas) will be attending. More information will come out in the near future, but for the time being, get out and start the new year doing something awesome and train for this unforgettable marathon. Here is a preliminary form if you are interested.

Marathon Cost

  • Before Feb 28: $85 (Half) $95 (Full)

  • March 1 – April 3: $95 (Half), $105 (Full)

How to train. Training for a half marathon is not as rigorous as training for a full; and there are a lot of resources to help you. I highly suggest downloading the free Nike Run app on your smartphone, and using their half-marathon training (look under Training Plans). Just enter the date of the marathon, and it will automatically calculate how much and what kind of exercises you should be doing per week to train, and will take into account how many days you have to do it. The minimum suggested is to run three times a week: one long but slow run (which should increase in time every week leading up to the event), plus one regular run, and third, either a short but very fast run (usually with intervals of sprinting for a min, then slow jog for three), or a regular run but uphill. If you can commit to that, you can do the marathon.

Hosted by UW Newman and Frassati Grads and Young Professionals, Seattle.
